Replacement keratin for creating bonded etensions

Hair extensions with keratin bonds can usually be worn for 3-4 months at a time. After this time, the extensions need to be removed because they have grown out too far. However, if the hair still feels nice and the hair structure is OK, the hair extensions do not need to be thrown away! With the help of replacement keratin, the hair can be re-bonded and reused. Rebonding should only be carried out by trained professionals. A heating iron or an ultrasound device can be used for this. This means that you do not have to buy completely new extensions every time, but can reuse the hair you have worn. If the keratin is applied correctly, there is no loss of quality. The bonds can hold just as firmly as before.

Advantages:

  • Pre-formed: The keratin needs to be reshaped after heating to ensure it bonds optimally with the hair strand. However, the fact that the keratin is pre-formed makes re-bonding easier.
  • Available in different colours: The keratin is offered in black, brown, and transparent. For lighter shades, we recommend the transparent version.
  • High-quality keratin: The keratin bonds are made from the same material as our bonded extensions. The Italian hard keratin is easy to shape and ensures a secure hold.

Transform loose hair into customised bonded extensions

Do you have loose hair or wefts but would like to wear extensions with keratin bonds? No problem! With this keratin, you can easily convert loose hair into extensions. To do this, strands of a suitable thickness must be sectioned. The standard thickness is one gram per strand. However, it is of course also possible to create 0.5g strands, for example. It is essential that the hair is positioned correctly, namely in the direction of growth. If hair is worked in with the roots facing downwards, this can lead to matting and knots.
Clip-in extensions or other types of extensions intended for occasional wear should not be bonded. Our clip-in extensions are made from 100% human hair. However, permanent extensions, such as keratin bonds or wefts, are made from hair that is less pre-treated, allowing them to withstand more stress. Permanent extensions must endure daily challenges such as friction from sleeping, washing, and styling. Clip-in extensions are not designed for long-term wear. If you were to bond this hair and wear it permanently, it would not maintain its beauty for as long.

Tips for Rebonding

Rebonding should only be carried out by trained professionals. Before starting the process, you should assess the hair. Only hair that still has good structure is suitable for re-installation. If necessary, you can sort out individual strands that are more damaged than others.

When removing the extensions, the keratin will naturally dissolve. Therefore, it is essential to handle the loose hair gently to minimise hair loss. Once the new keratin is applied, there should be no hair shedding.

What you will need:

  • Hair you wish to bond
  • Heating iron/fusion iron, or ultrasound device
  • Keratin bonds/granules
  • Bond cutter
  • A suitable tool for shaping the keratin

Turn on the heating iron. Cut off the old keratin and firmly hold the hair strand. Next, place the keratin on the heated tip of the iron and position the strand on it. Press the tongs until the keratin has melted. While the keratin is still soft, shape it accordingly.

To create U-tips, you will need a suitable tool. For instance, there are special bonding pliers with a U-shaped tip that can be used to shape the keratin. If you prefer flat tips, you can shape them with tape pliers. Once cooled, the keratin bond should be adjusted with a bond cutter. Cleanly shaped keratin will make the installation process easier.

As for the heating iron, both variants from our range can be used. However, the heating iron with the wider tip is slightly more practical, as it provides a larger surface area.
